Future Studio provides experiential learning for highly creative and entrepreneurial undergraduate liberal arts students and supports them in developing ideas that can lead to new enterprises or civically engaged creative projects.
The studio provides all participants with the capacity to approach their work as creative and generative, moving away from traditional problem solving techniques focused on what we don’t want, towards a generative ideation and futurist methodology focused on creating what we do want.
Future Studio is rooted in the belief that deep learning occurs through active research, idea development, hands-on work/production, iteration, and collaborating across sectors and with the public. Linkages with mentors from business, art and design, finance, and law are essential in furthering research and creating a collaborative community of innovators to solve the challenges of our current world. Courses, speaker series, and public workshops and dialogues leverage the self–directed and inquiry–based educational structures at Bennington College to bring artistic methodologies and liberal arts rigor to environmentally conscious, sustainable business and creative practices.
Future Studio is a creative studio that seeks to incubate the next generation of enterprise leaders, entrepreneurs and artists together. The studio believes that cross-sector engagement from the arts, business, non-profits and beyond is essential for tackling complex challenges and remaking the systems that govern our world.
The time is now for generative creativity to be embedded in all pursuits in order to move us from speculative dreaming and problem solving towards the realization of a more equitable and just future.
Future Studio was created by Robert Ransick in 2014.
